A COUPLE have decided to call it a day after nearly 30 years running a newsagents.
Bhaskar Patel and his wife Varsha took over Stourview Stores on Station Road in Manningtree in 1984 after moving from London.
They other shops come and go during their time but recently decided it was time to retire.
“When we moved to Manningtree it was a busy town with two green grocers, the Co-op was a small store with only groceries, the chemist was on the High Street, there were six banks, nine pubs and other shops,” Mr Patel explained.
“Our business was only a newsagent then and it was very small but we managed to double the size and introduce many new lines.”
