Tendring Council calls for more time to assess impact of school travel cuts
9:00am Monday 7th October 2013 in News
COUNCIL bosses have made an urgent plea for more time to look at proposals to cut free school bus travel.
County Hall bosses are looking at a raft of measures to save cash.
Tendring Council bosses fear the move could hit poorer families in the district.
Education spokesman Stephen Mayzes said he had "grave concerns" the proposed changes would have a negative impact on children's education.
The consultation is due to end on October 25 but Tendring is calling for an extension so it can assess the impact on communities.
