Groundbreaking cycle race could come to Tendring

COUNCIL bosses are working on a bid to bring a historic international cycle race to the area.
Tendring Council is locked in talks with organisers of the inaugural Women’s Tour of Britain to host a stage of the event in May 2014.
There will be five stages held in the East of England at the elite international race with World Championship and Olympic medallists likely to take part.
Council leader Peter Halliday would be delighted if the council could seal the deal and bring elite sport to Tendring.
“The race is attracting a great deal of interest around the world and from media companies wanting to cover the event,” Mr Halliday explained.
“I am proud to say that it could bring international coverage to Tendring, promoting sport, fitness and health and well-being right across the region, as well as showcasing the very best of Tendring and many features and attraction on offer."
