Ambulance service board criticised by MP
2:00pm Wednesday 16th October 2013 in News
THE board running the ambulance service have lost the plot, according to Sir Bob Russell.
The outspoken Colchester MP claimed members of the East of England Ambulance Service board must be using “the Alice in Wonderland textbook” to run things after it was revealed several senior management positions have not been permanently filled.
In October 2012 Hayden Newton stood down as chief executive of a service widely regarded as the worst in the country with among the poorest response times to the most serious emergencies.
Sir Bob said: “The morale of the exceptional frontline staff is on the floor and I am alarmed by the decisions being made at the Cambourne HQ."
The trust appointed an acting director of service delivery, Rob Ashford, on Monday after a long recruitment process.
