Essex County Council to spend additional funds to upgrade computer equipment
4:00pm Wednesday 16th October 2013 in News
COUNTY Hall is to spend an additional £850,000 upgrading its computer equipment.
The extra cash has been pledged by Essex County Council in a bid to make sure the authority is up-to-date.
The End User Computing Scheme, which looks to upgrade all computer devices every four years, has been boosted by £450,000.
A further £350,000 has been added to an initiative to improve data storage and remote document access and an extra £50,000 has been pledged for updates to the council’s email system.
Derrick Louis, county councillor for transformation and corporate services, said: “As the council is radically changing the way it delivers its services it is important we have the technology in place to support our ambitions."
