Residents clear ‘impassable’ path
4:00pm Monday 21st October 2013 in News
A FOOTPATH has been given a new surface after years of hard work with the help of the community.
Volunteers and residents in Little Oakley helped lay the hard surface along the route between Oakridge and the Memorial Club over the weekend.
The path previously became muddy and impassable during the winter making it difficult for the elderly, disabled and parents with school children to negotiate.
In a single day the volunteers laid a weed barrier and 200 tonnes of road planings onto the 350m path.
Little Oakley Parish Council chairman Tom Howard said: “It was a remarkable feat, and was achieved in a single day instead of the two days planned.
“This would not have been possible without the substantial community support received, and it is a credit to the community that it will hopefully serve for years to come."
