Students helping students scheme a success
9:00am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in News
A SECONDARY school’s peer mentoring scheme has been hailed a great success by students and staff.
Manningtree High School has carefully selected older students to help younger pupils with concerns or worries they may have.
The mentors have to go through a strict interview process of interviews and training before helping out their fellow students with issues they may have had in the past themselves and wear blue t-shirts so they are easily recognisable.
Peer mentor co-ordinator Steve Lawton said: “The peer mentors are a great asset to the pastoral team and to the school."
A Year Seven pupil said: They are there to help if we get bullied or picked on and they don’t mind how small the problem is they just want to help.”
