Pupils' imagination set sail with help from author

PUPILS have been inspired to write their own tales by working with a famous author.
Julia Jones has been helping Year Six pupils at Wix and Wrabness Primary school with their book projects and accompanied them on visits to Alton Water and Holbrook Canal, which are areas that appear in her Strong Wind series.
When the students returned from the trip they had a go at writing their own stories based on inspiration they had taken from the nautical themed days out.
Class teacher Anne Bray as delighted at how the children responded to working with Ms Jones.
“I have never seen them so enthusiastic about writing,” she said.
“One of the pupils wrote 3,000 words which is amazing.
“Julia came back in and was brilliant, taking time to talk to each student and was so thorough that she couldn’t get to everyone in time, but those she didn’t she emailed suggestions to on how to improve. She must have been up all night.”
