Programmes tackling domestic violence receive more than £500,000 in funding

PROGRAMMES tackling domestic violence in Essex have received more than half a million pounds funding.
Essex Police faced heavy criticism following a number of high profile murders and steps are being taken to improve the treatment of domestic violence victims in the county.
In July 2011, Southend’s Jeanette Goodwin was murdered by her ex-lover, while just eight weeks earlier, in Braintree, Christine Chambers and her two-year-old daughter Shania were murdered by Shania’s father.
Three years before that, Maria Stubbings was murdered by her ex-boyfriend Marc Chivers.
So far this year £567,900 has been allocated by the PCC.
