A MEDICAL practice, leading the way with a controversial appointments system, has featured on TV.
The Mayflower Medical Centre’s new appointment system was debated on Sunday Politics East.
GP Allan Smith spoke about the centre’s system where doctors call patients back before deciding if they need to be seen.
The system can see doctors spending up to four hours a day on the phone.
The three month pilot scheme, which started in July, has been extended until the end of the year.
Lizzie Stovell, practice anager at the Mayflower Medical Centre said: “The BBC had heard that we have taken the initiative and so saw us as a leading example of some of the changes that just have to be made in the health service locally and nationally."
