A POSTBOX which angry residents started a petition to save has been removed.
The box had stood on land at the front of a house in New Road, Mistley, for more than 70 years.
Earlier this month the Standard revealed the owners of the house had applied to Royal Mail to have the box removed.
A petition was launched by residents to save the postbox but Royal Mail said it was ‘obliged’ to removed the box.
Lynda Moss, who started the petition, said: "It is very disappointing – several people said they would have the box on their land.
“We are going to keep looking into it. We are trying to keep fighting for it and see where it takes us.”
