Primary pupils have a go at being medics
2:00pm Wednesday 4th December 2013 in News
PRIMARY school pupils took their first steps towards becoming doctors and nurses with a medical workshop.
Year 5 and 6 pupils from around Ardleigh, Bradfield and Lawford took their own blood pressure, read their temperatures, measured oxygen levels and blew into a peak flow meter during a day in the science department at Manningtree High School.
They also used an otoscope to show the hair and wax from their ears on a big screen and used glasses to feel what it would be like to have tunnel or blurred vision.
Science coordinator Ros Fretwell said: “Everyone commented that their time spent here was good fun and they learnt a lot.
“Quite a few pupils fancied the idea of working in the medical profession once they were old enough and if they studied hard.”
