TORY MP Tim Yeo is fighting for his political career after his local party decided not to re-adopt him as its candidate for the next general election.

Mr Yeo, 68, who lives in East Bergholt, is Suffolk’s longest serving MP and is now said to be considering his options.

The vote was taken by the South Suffolk Conservative Association last week.

A statement from the association said it had “voted not to re-adopt Tim Yeo for the 2015 general election”.

It said Mr Yeo was “now considering his position”.

Mr Yeo has served as the MP for South Suffolk which covers East Bergholt and Brantham for 30 years.

He is one of only 30 Conservatives to have won each of the last six elections.
