A FOOD bank for those in need this Christmas is set to open.

The Salvation Army will be providing the service at the Morrisons superstore in Harwich to supply local people with food parcels and toys so they do not miss out during the festive season.

Food has been donated by churches, local organisations and members of the public to give to those who are less fortunate.

The bank will open at 9.30am today and run until Sunday evening.

Leader of the Harwich Salvation Army Les Groombridge said: “We are committed to caring for people who are vulnerable or in need in ever community, offering compassionate support and practical help.

“The support by Morrisons supermarket and the generosity of their customers will allow us to offer extra assistance this Christmas time.”
