A PRIMARY school and a supermarket are joining forces to raise money for six charities as part of ITV’s Text Santa appeal.

Pupils from Spring Meadow primary school will be on hand in Morrisons in Harwich on Thursday December 12 between 10am and 3pm to help pack customer’s bags in exchange for donations.

The money raised will go to Age UK, Barnados, Beat Bullying, British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and Help the Hospices.

Morrisons spokesman Cally Short said: “To be able to pull together as a community and raise money for such a worthwhile cause is fantastic.

“The children are very excited to be taking part and we hope to raise a substantial amount for the charities that do so much good in the local area.”

Morrisons will also be supporting the cause by selling Text Santa merchandise before the primetime extravaganza hosted by Ant and Dec, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Christine Bleakley and Paddy McGuinness is screened on Friday December 20.
