A FLOOD victim has questioned why she was taken all the way to Colchester when there was a rest centre in her town.
Jackie Brown,of Hall Lane, Dovercourt, her husband Tony, 68, were evacuated by police in the early hours of Friday.
They were first sent to Harwich and Dovercourt High School before directed to Colchester Leisure Centre.
In Harwich a rest centre was set up at the Park Pavilion – less than a mile from Mrs Brown’s home.
Mrs Brown, 65, said: “We accepted being told to go to Colchester but when we found that there could have been a nearer alternative we were disappointed.
“We haven’t been told why we were sent 20 miles when we were later told there was one in town.”
A police spokesman said the official rest centre was at Colchester Leisure World.
