A RUN-DOWN skate park and a teenage advice service are celebrating after winning a slice of a £120,000 pot.
The money, from Essex County Council’s Community Initiatives Fund, has been awarded to 13 organisations across the district.
Harwich Town Council received £15,000 to improve the skatepark near Dovercourt swimming pool.
Skater Freddy Gravenor, of Road, Dovercourt, said: “This is good news for the skate park. I think it is the first lot of funding we have had in the last six months.
“I asked the user group about why they use the skate park and complied one long collection of points of views.
“We are also looking into the Big Society funding at the moment. We will see what 2014 brings in terms of funding.”
Lawford Parish Council was given £14,000 which will go towards a project to create a new path, new car park entrance and new gates for School Lane Playing Field.
Teen Talk received £13,000 to transform the workshop into a community room.
