A CHRISTMAS tree labelled as “laughable” for being too small has found a new home in Harwich.

The 15ft tree was originally delivered to Clacton Town Centre as the centrepiece of the town’s festive celebrations.

But it was described as “not man enough for the job” and later replaced by a 30ft tree after just one day.

Now the tree has found a new home after being offered to the Salvation Army in George Street.

It was delivered last week, has since been decorated and takes pride of place in front of their building.

Alison Notley from the Salvation Army said that they were delighted with the gift and it was perfect to meet their needs.

“We were so pleased when we discovered that we were to benefit from the tree being too small to be suitable for Clacton Town Square and it is just the job for us,” she said.

“We were very grateful for the unexpected gift and it has helped to make our Christmas.”
