AN international cycle race will make its way through Manningtree next year.
Two stages of the prestigious Women’s Tour, which attracts worldwide coverage, will go through England’s smallest town.
Alan Goggin, cabinet member for tourism, told Tendring Council’s Cabinet stage three on May 9 would be starting in Felixstowe and would come via Manningtree on the way to Clacton.
The fifth and final stage will start from Harwich on May 11 before following the Stour estuary via Wrabness, Bradfield, Mistley and Manningtree. It will finish in Bury St Edmunds.
The Women’s Tour will have a unique start in Harwich as it takes place on the same day as the Tour de Tendring, which attracted almost 2,000 riders last year.
Mr Goggin said: “It will provide a major boost to tourism and businesses and will showcase the district’s cycling credentials.”
