A FORMER teacher is travelling to Zimbabwe to work for a charity helping to educate young people.

Faith Allen, 24 of Farm Road in Great Oakley was told she had been selected by good cause Restless Development two weeks ago.

She is now set to leave for Africa in the new year and embark on what she hopes will be the adventure of a lifetime.

“I had been searching for projects like this online and applied for this four weeks ago so it has all been a whirlwind.

“We will be reaching out to people of a similar age as me which is what attracted me.

“I am really excited after meeting the people who I will be working with because they are a lovely bunch and very like minded.

“I am aware conditions can be tough and we will be sleeping at a school but I have been lucky enough to do some travelling before and taught in Benin.”

To secure her place she has to raise £800 before January 3 to prove her commitment and support the ongoing efforts in development in 2015 when the charity’s funding will be cut.
