TENDRING has missed out on being included on the Government’s Assisted Area Status Map which could have seen the district given a major cash boost.
Last week the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills published its draft map which proposes which areas of the UK are eligible to receive regional aid.
The area will miss out on chances for additional financial support for small businesses and large enterprises in economically disadvantaged locations.
Paul Honeywood, Tendring Council’s interim leader, said the fact that Tendring has been excluded was hugely disappointing.
“The case that was developed by Essex County Council and Tendring Council was excellent and made a very compelling argument for the inclusion of Tendring,” he said.
“We are meeting early in the new year with Essex County Council to discuss how we challenge the decision.”
