AN injured woman was trapped in a car for almost an hour after a Christmas Day smash in Elmstead Market.
The two-vehicle accident happened just before 6pm in Brightlingsea Road.
Firefighters from Colchester had to cut the roof off one of the vehicles to free a woman from the wreckage.
She was treated by paramedics and taken to Colchester General Hospital.
Her injuries are not believed to be serious.
Police said the crash involved a Peugeot 207 and a Ford Fiesta, and happened at the junction of Brightlingsea Road and Elmstead Road.
A spokesman said: "Firefighters were also called to assist paramedics in removing the driver of the Peugeot from the vehicle.
"The road was blocked for approximately one and a half hours will the accident was dealt with and the vehicles removed."
