A HOST of unsung heroes from across Tendring have been honoured.

The 21 recipients of the Pride of Tendring Awards – which was held for the first time two years ago - have been revealed on Wednesday.

The announcement will be followed by a special ceremony at Clacton’s Princes Theatre on February 7 where the award winners will be presented with their accolades.

Marjorie Culham was one of the recipients.

She has been a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind for the last 50 years and is an active fundraiser, organising raffles and visiting fairs, fetes and events such as the Tendring Show.

She has also been a puppy walker for 25 years and is often seen out walking a dog in training.

She is chairman of the local branch and gives talks to other organisations about the charity's work.

She runs a monthly luncheon club at the local church in Lawford which provides a meal as well as a meeting place for local people.

She is also on the parochial church council of the local church as a deanery representative and was once a Girl Guide leader.
