A HOST of unsung heroes from across Tendring have been honoured.

The 21 recipients of the Pride of Tendring Awards – which was held for the first time two years ago - were revealed on Wednesday.

One of the recipients was Richard Colley.

Richard has devoted both his working and retired life to serving others. In 2001 when he retired from as head of planning at Tendring Council, he became involved voluntarily with many organisations.

Some of the organisations lucky enough to have his assistance and know- how are the Harwich Society, Essex Air Ambulance where he was principal organiser, Harwich Home Start, the Workers Educational Association, Harwich Community Association and Wrabness Parish Council.

He is also chairman of governors at St Joseph’s Primary School in Dovercourt and co-founder of Harwich Connexions, which provides affordable services including a nursery and community transport service, and recently took on the role of chairman.
