A HOST of unsung heroes from across Tendring have been honoured.
The 21 recipients of the Pride of Tendring Awards – which was held for the first time two years ago - were revealed last Wednesday.
Hayley Lovett picked up one of the awards.
Hayley is a woman of outstanding achievement. Nine years ago, wanting to help in the community, she became a volunteer helper at Teen Talk (Harwich), an area with high deprivation and little help for young people aged 11-25.
She has a way with young people, by providing empathy and encouragement, sometimes when they thought all was lost and in some cases even wanting to end it all.
Five years after joining Teen Talk she worked her way up to manager.
Since then she has turned the it into a high-profile, respected centre which sees more than a third of Tendring’s young people each year.
Hayley also raised funding to prevent the centre from closing which would have left young people with nowhere to go for support.
