A historic pub has closed without warning leaving twenty people without jobs on New Year’s Day.
The Crown in Manningtree announced to punters and employees they would be closed until further notice on Wednesday.
The Greene King pub was refurbished and relaunched in May and has been run by Julie Bain for the last 21 years.
A message posted on The Crown Facebook page read: “We are closed until further notice....”
It is thought 20 people have lost their jobs as a result of the closure.
Greene King confirmed the pub had closed saying landlady Julie Bain had left due to ill health.
