TAXI drivers have been warned to be vigilant after two drivers had their takings snatched by men wearing balaclavas.
One taxi driver was targeted on New Year’s Day at around 4am in Dockfield Avenue in Dovercourt.
He was approached by a man wearing a hoodie and balaclava.
The man snatched the bag out of the driver’s hand and ran off.
On Sunday another taxi driver was targeted.
The driver was approached by two men on Abbott Road at around 2.50am. They took the driver’s bag before running off.
The victim, who did not want to be named, was returning home after a hoax call.
“I never expected it to happen – Harwich is a fairly safe place,” he said.
Anyone with any information about who is responsible or witnessed the incidents is asked to contact Pc Chris Coyles at Harwich on 101.
