SUPPORT has been given to a new care home and learning disability unit on the site of a former hospital.
Harwich Town Council’s planning meeting has welcomed the plans for a 48-bedroom assisted care home and seperate 12-unit centre for adults with learning disabilities.
Councillor Jo Henderson, said: “It is going to create some jobs and tidy up the site."
The former hospital ground, in Main Road, Dovercourt, has been derelict since the disused hospital was demolished in 2006.
It was replaced by the town’s Fryatt Hospital.
Tendring Council has final say on the plans.
