A RISE in burglaries and car crime has prompted one village to start up its own neighbourhood watch.
Samantha Rowley wants to bring the community of Little Oakley together to protect residents from criminals targetting the whole Harwich area.
“What we are doing with neighbourhood watch is getting the village together, it’s getting people talking to their neighbours again and letting them know who to contact if they see anything suspicious.
“It’s something we can do to protect our community.”
The first meeting of the neighbourhood watch will be held on Monday January 27 at 7pm at Ye Olde Cherry Tree, Clacton Road, Little Oakley.
