HIGH schools are celebrating improved results in the latest league tables.

The tables, which look at GCSE and A-Level grades, were published on Thursday.

At GCSE level, schools are rated based on the proportion of pupils who achieved five or more A* to C grades including maths and English or equivalent.

Harwich and Dovercourt High School ranked 51 of all high schools in Essex, with 58 per cent of their 216 students achieving five or more A* to C grades. At A-Level the school ranked 26th.

Manningtree High School ranked 63rd, with 53 per cent of its 168 pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades.

In Suffolk East Bergholt High School ranked eighth with 71 per cent of its 185 students achieving the five or more A* to C grades.

Deputy headteacher, at Harwich and Dovercourt High School, Lynne Gettings said: “The school is immensely proud of the achievement of our students."
