A CHARITY fun run will be hitting the streets of Harwich in a bid to raise thousands of pounds.

Harwich and Dovercourt Rugby Club is teaming up with the Harwich Runners to organise a Sainsbury Sport Relief Mile on March 23.

The bi-annual Sport Relief Games see thousands of people across the country swim, cycle or run to raise money for disavantaged children in the UK and across the world.

Trevor Armstrong, secretary of the rugby club, said: “We held the sport relief mile in 2012 and it went really well, we raised in excess of £15,000.

“It’s a way of raising money for good caused and having fun."

The route starts at the Low Road rugby club and goes along the Dovercourt promenade.
