HARWICH Sports Centre is set to get a much-needed facelift from next month.
Around £17,000 is to be spent on refurbishing the male changing rooms at the community facility.
The scheme will include putting in a new ventilation system, retiling the walls, a new floor covering, redecoration, new seating/benching, and an upgrade for the shower area.
The sports centre is jointly run by Tendring Council and Harwich and Dovercourt High School. An agreement has now been reached over funding the project.
Santara Builders will be undertaking the work which will begin on February 14.
Councillor Jo Henderson said: “We welcome any improvements. It is a shame it has taken so long, they have been in a dire state for some time.
“Hopefully it will now come to a conclusion. I can’t see £17,000 going very far but any improvements will be better for users and for the school children.”
