THE future of a high school has been put in jeopardy as the costcutting axe fell on schoolbuses.
A controversial decision to cut vital free school bus transport has been rubberstamped despite fears it could make Manningtree High School "unviable".
Families on the outskirts of Manningtree will now face having to pay to send their children to school under the Essex County Council plans, which will see children of low-income families only given free buses to their nearest school.
It is likely to force many children in the Bromleys and surrounding area to go to Colchester Academy instead of Manningtree as it is classed as their closest school.
County councillor for Tendring Rural West, Carlo Guglielmi, has branded the move "unfair" and raised fears it could even lead to teacher redundancies.
