RESIDENTS in Tendring have been warned to prepare for high winds in the next 24 hours.

Tendring Council’s Emergency Planning Team has been monitoring the situation along with the Environment Agency and Met Office.

The team is keeping a close eye on the situation in terms of both the weather conditions and tides – and want to reassure people there is no serious risk to Tendring at the moment.

Several residents – from the St Osyth and Harwich areas – had contacted the council for advice.

Nigel Brown, communications manager, said: “The biggest concern in Tendring at this stage is from the winds which may blow down trees or loose objects in gardens which could cause damage.

“We are also expecting some surface water flooding in some places due to the sheer amount of rain that has fallen in recent weeks.”
