PLANS for a giant solar farm between Bradfield and Wix have been rejected by a council due to its “unsightly” nature.

Planners at Tendring Council have refused Hive Energy’s outlines for a 37 acre sun farm at Green Farm in Oakley Road, just off the A120.

The panels would have been almost 2.3m tall and generated 7MW of electricity.

Planners took into consideration soft landscaping would mask some of the visual impacts but said: “The development would be an incongruous and unsightly feature in the landscape and have a significant detrimental impact on character and appearance of the countryside in this locality.”
