HARWICH will become the focal point of regeneration in Tendring under new plans to “unlock” its economic potential.

A full-time position, which will focus solely on the town, will be created as Tendring Council looks to review regeneration across the district.

Council leader Mick Page said the key to economic regeneration of the whole district was to unlock the potential of Harwich Port, the A120 economic growth corridor and the renewable energy industry.

“Harwich is the focal point – it is the jewel in the crown,” he said.

“It can be the catalyst for regeneration in Tendring."
