A DERELICT pub has been given a £500,000 revamp and turned into an Indian street food restaurant.

The Captain Fryatt in Garland Road, Parkeston has been revitalised by Harwich-based Surya Food and the Flying Trade Group and is set to be launched on February 20.

As well as food from the subcontinent at the renamed Laila Grill, there are also ten four star guest bedrooms and two luxury cottages available for hire.

Spokesman for the Captain Fryatt Brian van Oosten believes the development will be exciting for the area.

“There was a vision to transform this business when it was purchased and that vision has now been realised to its fullest extent.

“The new Laila Grill will serve authentic Indian street food in a contemporary setting, bringing a totally new dining experience to Harwich and Tendring."
