A HUGE cash giveaway could see up to £300,000 handed to community groups in Mistley.
The Mistley Maltings Trust, formed in the late nineties, is set to donate a bulk of money left over from failed plans to create a community facility for the village.
It is hoped the £150,000 could be matched funded by groups to create a £300,000 cash boost for projects that match the original mission of the Trust.
Trustee Peter French said: “Eight organisations from the area have applied and hopefully they will provide projects for the people of Mistley to enjoy.
“We are determined to deliver the plans and are looking at how that can be done through organisations whether it be providing hall facilities, sports services or a whole variety of things.
“The trust is currently in contact with those who have applied and we will conduct impact and feasibility studies to see how the proposals could benefit the community."
