Greater Anglia is lifting ticket restrictions for off-peak tickets this evening to encourage passengers to get home as quickly as possible.

High winds are being forecast across the region from 8pm tonight.

A spokesman said: "Customers are advised to complete train journeys as early as possible.

"This will ensure you avoid any disruption caused by possible damage to the railway infrastructure and for your personal safety when moving about in exposed areas.

"All ticket restrictions will be removed for valid Abellio Greater Anglia ticket holders from 5pm until close of service."

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for wind, covering parts of Essex, from 6pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.

The latest Met Office forecast said: "Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are likely in the amber warning area with isolated 80 mph gusts possible along the most exposed parts of the south coast."
