EXTRA cash has been released to tackle flooding in Tendring as the region continues to be battered by bad weather.

County Hall bosses have made £1million of emergency funding available for flooded roads.

A package of measures is being put in place in conjunction with district councils to identify the worst flooding points, where action will be taken to clear culverts and gullies, and remove debris.

Each district is being asked to identify its five worst flood hot-spots by the end of the week.

Tendring Council environment boss Nick Turner welcomed the offer of extra cash.

“We will certainly be getting back to County Hall by the end of the week with our own worst areas that require attention,” he said.
