RESIDENTS are being urged to switch energy providers and save cash on their bills.
Essex County Council is running a scheme which provides a group discount on energy for those who sign up.
More than 2,800 residents have already signed up to the Essex Energy Switch.
Registration is open until midnight tonight, Monday February 17, and is also open to businesses.
Once registration closes a nationwide one-day energy auction will take place on Tuesday February 18, facilitated by iChoosr, where major energy companies will come forward to offer the lowest energy tariff to everyone who has signed up.
Following the auction everyone who registered will receive a personal offer of the new tariff and can then decide whether or not to accept.
