A LIBRARY will close for three months while essential maintenance takes place.
Harwich Library on Kingsway in Dovercourt will be shut between Saturday March 8 and Monday June 2 while builders re-roof the building, replace glazing to the front facade, repair suspended ceilings and lighting and upgrade the alarm system.
Library supervisor Mark Norman believes the work is essential for the library to continue running efficiently.
“The roof has been leaking a little bit which is obviously not ideal and a panel of glass has been cracked at the front so we need to get it fixed,” he said.
Bookworms will still be able to check books in and out from a mobile library on Upper Kingsway which will be open between 9am and 5pm on Mondays, Saturdays and alternating Fridays and Thursdays.
There will also be a dropbox set up to return items at Dovercourt DIY Centre, Kingsway during business hours.
