ACTION has been taken to improve safety at a village bridge after major fears were raised that lorries could plunge off the edge and on to the railway track below.
Network Rail has placed fluorescent safety bollards along the boundary of the bridge in New Road, Mistley.
Councillors had said the bridge was a “major concern” because the only barrier to traffic was a flimsy fence.
Chair of Mistley Parish Council Martin Rayner said: “It just begs the question if they did not consider it to be a risk - why have they put them in place."
