TALENTED young poets are now published authors after winning a national competition.
Year Six students from Spring Meadow Primary School wrote poems about monsters for the Young Writers competition in October and six of their entrants are now in anthologies which have been delivered to the school.
Copies of the collection will be in libraries all over the country and teacher and deputy head Claire Pallett could not be prouder of her pupils.
“All the children were very excited because they were sent a letter to their homes telling them they had been selected,” she said.
“Everyone at the school is very proud of them and they read their work out in an assembly this week so hopefully they will inspire some of the younger children as well.
“Young Writers run several different competitions and we have had notice of a short story one which we will definitely be entering.
“Hopefully some of our students will take this further and end up being authors or poets in the future.”
