A PUB’S official relaunch has been hailed as one of the keys to regenerating Harwich and the surrounding area, according to a council leader.
Laila Grill, a modern street food Indian restaurant, was launched last week on the site of the Captain Fryatt pub in Parkeston and Tendring Council Leader Mick Page is hopeful this will be the first improvement of many.
“When I took over the leadership of the council I openly stated that Harwich is the jewel in Tendring’s crown and I firmly believe that,” he said.
“The council will do all it can to try to bring investment and jobs to the town but major investment in the area – such as taken place at the Captain Fryatt – by the private sector is also vitally important.
“It also helps to boost confidence in the area and will encourage others to invest in the future.”
