DESPERATE plea for equipment has been made by a Brantham-based charity that has funded a maternity unit in Rwanda.

Maralyn Bambridge set up the Engalynx charity in 1998 and it has helped fund the Maternity Unit Engalynx in eastern Rwanda.

But as work is nearly complete the charity is calling for help to kit out the new centre due to a stalling with expected funding.

A wishlist of items has been drawn up including equipment from sterile gloves, cots and beds to bedpans, baby stethoscopes, thermometers and baby weighing scales.

Anyone able to help should contact Engalynx on 01206 393022 or email mm.bambridge@homecall.co.uk
