A FOOD bank has been set up by local churches to serve Manningtree, Mistley, Lawford, Bradfield and the surrounding villages.
The bank will be based at the Oasis Cafe at Foundry Court Community Centre in Colchester Road, Manningtree between 10am and 12.30pm every Tuesday.
Care workers and family support services are required to help hold the vouchers to be distributed to those in need.
Co-op east will be helping with food donations to reflect the national requirement for the service.
Trustee and secretary of Manningtree Food Bank Pat Chandler, said: “Whilst we don't think our area has a particular poverty problem, we do know there are a number of families and individuals who are struggling financially and who will benefit from the food bank.
“We want to do everything we can to offer them emergency help."
Organisers can be contacted on 07870 967353.
