A 19-year-old man from Harwich has been arrested and police are seeking a second man following a hit-and-run in Main Road, Dovercourt, yesterday afternoon.
Police were called by the ambulance service just after 3.30pm after a teenage boy was struck by a Renault Megane car, which then drove off from the scene.
The 16-year-old suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital. The car, believed to have been stolen earlier from the local area, was found burned out in the area of the sewage works, off the A120.
It has been recovered by police for forensic examination.
The arrested man is being questioned on suspicion of being involved in an assault with intent to cause GBH.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should contact Clacton CID on 101.
