JUSTIN Timberlake and The Killers will be this year’s main headliners for V Festival in Chelmsford.

Following on from pop megastar Beyonce in 2013, Timberlake who has sold 20 million albums worldwide in his solo career will top the bill on one of the two days at Hylands Park in Chelmsford.

It had been heavily rumoured the 33-year-old former ‘N Sync singer would be a headliner for the festival which is being held on August 16 and 17.

US rock band The Killers who’s hits include Mr Brightside and Runaways have been confirmed as the other main act for the event.

Other names on the bill include Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen, Elbow, Bastille, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Sam Smith.

In a joint statement, festival directors Bob Angus, Simon Moran and Dennis Desmond said: “We’re very excited to announce the V Festival line-up.

“We’re proud to bring headliners Justin Timberlake and The Killers, following on from their sold out Wembley Stadium show in 2013, with both headliners summer festival exclusives.

“We have pulled together a line-up of huge depth with a variety of artists across many musical genres and 2014 is set to be another fantastic year in V Festival’s 19 year history.”

Confirmation of which day Timberlake and The Killers will headline at the festival will be announced later in the year.

The Killers headlined the festival in 2007, 2009 and 2012 while Timberlake who has had UK number ones singles with Sexy Back and Mirrors has never previously performed there.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday.
