BUDDING young poets were given tips from the top when an acclaimed rhymester visited.

Stewart Henderson paid pupils at Spring Meadow a visit on Tuesday and taught them about the importance of words.

His poetry collections include Who Left Grandad At The Chipshop? and All Things Weird and Wonderful.

Mr Henderson spent the day reading his work and helping the pupils construct their own poems.

Teacher Emma Donegan said: “It brings it to life for the children – they read lots of books and know the names of the authors but it shows them these people are real. “
